A winter stroll

Most of Dallas shut down today, as we caught the tail end of the ice storm that swept across much of the country. But this afternoon the sun was shining and we went out for a cold weather stroll.

Some of the upper limbs of the trees were still coated with ice, melting quickly and falling like a light rain. We avoided walking beneath magnolia trees, since their broad leaves had collected thick sheets of ice that were now dropping like tiny panes of glass.

The sun was so warm and strong that the pecan tree outside our front door was steaming.

Home again, with toasty toes!
